Gaku's barn fresh 61 XLCH

My friend Gaku of Hawgholic emailed me last weekend and said he found a bike he's wanted since he was a kid. A 61 xlch. It looked pretty stock and had been sititing in a barn for 20 yrs. The only catch it was near Portland. Would I check it out for him and get it. Two trips to Portland later after dealing with a woman who didn't know the meaning of the word barter I had the bike and now Gak is the owner of this barn fresh beast. To be honest I didn't know shit about early Sportsters before this and now I want one. The XLCH is basically a bare bones enduro, magneto.. no battery, a few wires for the lights running right off the generator and regulator and that's it. This thing has good compression and everything works.. with a little bit of cleaning up.. some new oil and gas it will be on the road. Gak said he's putting the hi pipes and laconia bars on it and that's about it.

wassel

I got a Wassel tank for sale. High tunnel but mounts are on the bottom. Enamel paint that's chipped, small little dent on the front, a little surface rust in a couple spots but otherwise in good shape. Could use a good cleaning. email me - chicomotoblog@gmail.com

final hour pardoned

Just when I was about to shit can the magneto.. It was pardoned in the final hour. Finally able to start the bike reliably with it. Sometimes even 1 kick..combination of things .. 1. Had the Magneto completely rebuilt by morris. 2. Bill worked his voodoo on it , 3. changed the float, changed the Linkert Body, this new body has some adjustability which my old one didn't, idle set a little higher than I used to set it, 4. Made sure the timing was dialed perfect with a combination of the Morris Buzz box and a timing light, 6. Sold my soul to the devil 7. Getting the compression stroke set just right on the kicker pedal so you get a longer kick. The "ol timer" at the SanDiego swap, back in March, showed me that one. Invaluable that really helps.

J's Love Cycles 68

4Q paint

Jeremiah of Love Cycles built this 68 then rode it up to Washington to deliver it to J from Phoenix. Most of the trip in Pouring Rain. Tank was painted by Max Schaaf-4Q, the design was based on a found vintage tank.

Went riding with my friend J today who was riding his Love Cycles built 68 Shovel. Perfect weather, curvy roads, and little traffic.
