I fell in love with Gold Stars a couple years ago when I was at the Vegas Moto Auction, especially the Catalina MX Model. I saved this 1967 article on them a while ago, reprinted now without permission - thanks Cycle World. One of my favorite facts about them not in this article is that when a buyer received his new Gold Star it was accompanied by it's Dyna test results that motor put out when it left the factory.
