Dave Barr superhero on a shovel

I've been reading this book by Dave Barr. A Professional soldier and double amputee who after retiring decides to start riding his 72 shovel around the world by first riding across the African Continent starting in South Africa. He mounts knobbys on his 900 pound shovelhead and rides the muddy potholed dirt roads undeterred. In Zaire the roads are so bad he never gets out of 2nd gear and ends up falling some 20 to 30 times a day .. and that's as far as I've got so far. I'm in awe of him already and I've only read the first 60 pages and it's a 500 page book that transcribes his over 80,000 miles across the globe. Did I mention he is a double amputee?
